Empathy makes your child resilient. Having the space to fully feel all your feelings without being categorised as right or wrong makes you resilient as a child, as a person. It teaches you to be present in all your facets. It teaches you that you have the space to discover who you are and why you feel the way you feel. In an environment where every feeling is allowed to take up space, you can learn that by understanding yourself better and better, you gain strength. It teaches you to want to understand instead of judge. It teaches you to truly connect with yourself and others instead of pushing or running away. It teaches you not to be afraid of your own feelings, but to take responsibility for them and use your feelings as fuel to walk your own path (Tao) with full resilience, in balance (Yin & Yang), and without force (Wu wei). It teaches you that you are always valuable, as well as others, regardless of what you feel or what someone else feels. That from resilience you may be small when it feels necessary, from resilience you can bounce back as soon as you are ready, from resilience you can discover your own greatness that you may have doubted you had in you. From resilience you can develop into your own unique valuable self and give the other the space to do the same. In this way, you can together develop cognitively, physically, mentally, and consciously in connection with yourself, your social and natural living environment.
Trias Vita is a centre for lifelong development that supports children and young people to develop in connection with themselves, others, and the natural environment from an ecosystemic Taoist life perspective: finding your path (Tao) in balance (Yin & Yang) and without force (Wu wei).
