With gratitude, I still look back on one of the last school days at primary school. It was an open day at my primary school, and a relay race was going to be held for all pupils from first to sixth grade (group 3 to 8). Pupils in the sixth grade were given the responsibility of leading a group of children from first to sixth grade. I was one of the pupils who got to lead a group. When the group assignments were announced to the sixth-grade pupils, a few classmates laughed about my group. My group supposedly consisted of unathletic kids who were afraid to try anything. I shrugged inwardly and thought: “Seeing is believing”.
The day began. Some children in my group said they were not athletic, others that they were afraid of heights. I told them they could just give it a try. That if they were too scared, that was perfectly fine too. That no one would force them to do anything they did not want to, that I would support them no matter what and be there if they needed me. The day progressed steadily. Everyone in my group did their very best. No one dropped out. Then came the awards ceremony. We won the second prize! Not because we were all so athletic. Not because no one was afraid, but because everyone was given the space to be themselves. What an amazing team we were!
Not everyone is the same, even though we are all human. Not everyone has the same needs, even though we are all human. What we do have in common is that when we are truly given the space to be who we are, we flourish and dare to show ourselves for who we really are.
That is Trias Vita’s core value: giving children and youngsters the space to discover themselves and develop into who they are at their core.
Following your path (Tao) in balance (Yin & Yang) and without force (Wu wei). This is part of ecological development from a Taoist life perspective and what has shaped me. That is why I founded Trias Vita: to support children and young people so that they can fully flourish cognitively, physically, mentally, consciously, socially, and ecologically. Whatever path they choose, whichever roads they walk.
Only when we are connected to ourselves, others, and our natural environment can we make choices that truly allow ourselves, others, and our natural environment to flourish.
On March 21, 2026, Trias Vita will start ‘Natural Oasis’. A weekly moment in which children aged 3 to 5, in the presence of their parent(s), are given the space to explore themselves in relation to themselves, each other, and the natural environment.
